Dunamis

Whenever I hear the word strength now, I think of dunamis.  I learned of it in Kay Arthur's study, "Covenant".  Dunamis is Greek, for strength. But this strength is God's strength - not my own. As I'm going through some challenges in my life, I'm learning to rely on it more and more often.  Sometimes, I just pray the single word - petitioning God for His strength because I've learned when I am weak, I am strong.
"And He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."

Curiousity Killed The Cat

It's a good thing "curiosity killed the cat" doesn't always apply to humans!

I know -  you want to see what was inside that old canon too!  Don't you?

For Sam

The German Cafe located at the Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington.

The Knockwurst with sauerkraut and German potato salad.  That great mustard is to the side.

The Reuben with German potato salad.  The potato salad was delicious! Lots of good stuff in it.

The GNOMES - couldn't tell if they were welcoming us or wanted inside to get our food!
They were perched right outside the window next to our table.  On the other side was a rock wall about 15 feet high with only about 2 feet of clearance. Well suited for the surroundings.

Easter Lily

"I found a lily in my valley; I found strength when I was worn
I found the place to leave my burdens; I found refuge from the storm
At the place I prayed through dark skies; came beaming rays of sunshine
I found a lily in my valley and He blooms all the time."

Historic Halifax

"Located on the Roanoke River, the town of Halifax developed into a commercial and political center at the time of the American Revolution. North Carolina's Fourth Provincial Congress met in Halifax in the spring of 1776. On April 12 that body unanimously adopted a document later called the 'Halifax Resolves,' which was the first official action by an entire colony recommending independence from England".
This photo is of one of the smaller houses located at the rear of the market square and cemetery.  Halifax Day, the 236th anniversary of the Resolves will be celebrated on April 12th.

Falls River Park Rockfish

One of the first rockfish to be displayed in the "Roanoke Valley Rocks" tourism campaign is located at the boat landing in Weldon.  The fish, each painted differently by a local artist, are showing up at various business and tourist attractions located throughout the valley.  More photos of the other fish to come.
